satsumas are ready folks...which means only one thing, its fall (even if its probably the most humid day on earth today). my history with satsumas starts with my pawpaw. he has a giant garden in his backyard and everything he grows is delicious, as home grown/made things are always better, but i always preferred the fall time produce because it meant it was satsuma time!! there was nothing quite like running hells bells to and from pawpaws house and the play scape and downing as many oranges as i possibly could. i would eat them for breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner and dessert.
well, when kyle and i were looking for a house a few years ago it just so happened that the little house we loved also had two well-established and producing satsuma trees on the side yard. it was meant to be. so now, without doing anything, literally not one thing to the trees besides trimming them back after the season, we have a million satsumas to eat and share. i just picked our first basket of them...here are a few photos...
